About Hypnotherapy: Popular Misconceptions
Much of the general public still maintains misconceptions about hypnosis, due to the inaccurate portrayal of it in literature, movies, and television. The truth is, when under hypnosis, you have complete control over your actions. You are able to use all of your senses, as well as think, talk, walk, and move your body at will. In a typical session, you lie on a recliner with your arms and legs uncrossed, to encourage complete muscle relaxation and close your eyes to eliminate visual distraction. At any time, you could come out of hypnosis if you wanted. Nothing prevents you from opening your eyes, getting up from the chair, and walking out the door.

Since hypnosis requires your full cooperation, you can never be compelled to do anything that violates your ethical standards, spiritual beliefs, sense of good taste, or personal preferences. While hypnosis is not a magic wand or miracle cure that can instantaneously achieve your goals or immediately wipe away all problems and dissolve all negative blocks, it is a highly effective tool for lasting positive change when applied properly.

Never at risk of remaining hypnotized after a session, you will find that coming out of hypnosis is easy. Before the conclusion of every session, I bring you back to full consciousness, ready to continue with the rest of your day, feeling rested and fully alert. You also learn how to bring yourself out of hypnosis for those times when you are practicing self-hypnosis or listening to one of the session tapes I provide at no additional cost.
