I am Ellen R. Coleman,
a former university professor and a certified clinical
hypnotherapist. I am currently in private practice at my office
in Santa Monica, California.
My study of the mind began long before I trained at the
Hypnosis Motivation Institute, the first nationally accredited
hypnosis program, located in Tarzana, California.
It was at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor,
where I attained a B.A. with honors in Philosophy.
My honors thesis focused on wants as motivators of human behavior.
After earning an M.A. in Philosophy at Cornell University,
I lectured there while working on my Ph.D. dissertation on
Mental Causation and the Explanation of Human Action.
I went on to teach Philosophical Psychology and Philosophy
of Mind at such institutions as Stanford, San Francisco State,
and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
After leaving academia, I became a computer documentation consultant
in Silicon Valley and experienced the high pressure and demands
of the business world, where the therapeutic tools clinical
hypnosis offers are extremely valuable.
This eclectic career as a teacher, researcher, writer, consultant,
and hypnotherapist has given me diverse opportunities for studying
the mind and learning how to motivate constructive action for positive change.
I would feel honored if you decide to work with me.
